If you’re one of the many active adults looking to move closer to family or friends in Georgia, then you’ll want to stop by the award winning community of Somerset.
Built by Windsong Properties, Somerset received a Livable Communities “special recognition” honor earlier this year. The award was given by the AARP and the National Association of Home Builders at the International Builders Show in January.
AARP and the NAHB created the Livable Communities awards program in 2007 for builders, remodelers, architects and developers in order to recognize forward-looking companies that have constructed creative and unique homes and communities with accessible features that improve the daily comfort, ease of use and safety for all their residents, no matter age or physical abilities.
A panel of expert judges appointed by NAHB and AARP reviewed applications and selected the finalists. Judging criteria varied from category to category, but points were awarded based on: 1) Universal Design Features 2) Ease of Maintenance and Energy Efficiency 3) Exterior Design and Landscaping/Site Design 4) Incorporation of Livable Community Design Features and 5) Stakeholder Involvement.
You might have seen Somerset in the April edition of the AARP The Magazine, along with all of the other winners from the January event. An EasyLiving® active adult community, Somerset offers buyers their choice of ranch style floorplans, all of which include no-step access, wide doorways, lever handles and other amenities that facilitate changing life situations. In addition, all of the homes in Somerset are EarthCraft and ENERGY STAR certified, assuring that they have a lower cost to operate, are healthier and reduce their environmental impact.
Come out and visit the community today! One of the friendly Windsong team members would love to show you why so many have chosen to call this beautiful active adult community home.
