“Georgia’s Gardener” Presenting at Soleil Spring Festival

Home » “Georgia’s Gardener” Presenting at Soleil Spring Festival

The Soleil Spring Festival is a mere week away, and the community is buzzing with excitement about one of the guests.

Saturday, May 22nd, from noon to 1 p.m., Walter Reeves will give a presentation on growing in Georgia and how to amend its beautiful but stubborn red clay. He also encourages visitors to bring in samples of weeds from their lawns for identification.

Mr. Reeves is no gardening novice; he’s “Georgia’s Gardener,” a gardening guru who honed his horticultural skills from a young age. Growing up on a poultry farm in rural Georgia, he actively participated in cultivating his parents’ ample vegetable garden and learned to grow flowers from his grandmother. He also studied Latin in school, a skill that translated well into learning proper plant names.

Walter Reeves has been a staple in the Atlanta radio and television market for twenty years, which is how long he has had his radio program, “The Lawn and Garden Show with Walter Reeves,” which can be heard Saturday mornings on WSB AM 750. His seasonal show on Georgia Public Television has been popular since 1999, and his Thursday column in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has run for 18 years. Mr. Reeves has also authored numerous books on growing in Georgia.

Soleil Spring Festival runs May 22-23 at the Canton active adult community of Soleil Laurel Canyon. The event will feature Walter Reeves’ presentation, beautiful home tours, tennis and bocce ball clinics, a chef demonstration and much more. RSVP to this event by emailing SoleilFestival@soleillaurelcanyon.com or check out their website for more information and directions.
