Preschoolers at the Ralph Bunche Center in Cherokee County will soon have a new unit to shelter their toys from the elements.
The Soleil Tennis Club held its inaugural charity tennis tournament to benefit the school, which is less than three miles from the active adult community.
“We came up with the idea for the charity tennis tournament first, then began looking for an organization to benefit,” said Dan Byrne, co-chair of the charity event. “We met with several very worthy organizations, but after the committee spoke with the Ralph Bunche School, we just knew that was the one.”
The two-day tournament was full of competition, social events, a silent auction and raffle. Business sponsors in the community also donated to the event. The benefit grossed $8,400 that will be used to purchase materials for the unit, which will be assembled by Soleil master craftsmen.
Sponsors for the event are listed at Soleil Charity Tennis‘ website and will remain on the web site through the end of the year.
