You may have many questions about retirement involving your will, where to live, what to do about health care and how you’re going to pay for it all. Many Atlanta seniors had their questions answered at Park Springs‘ recent panel discussion.

The discussion was led by three Atlantans well-versed in retirement issues: Ruthann Lacey, one of five elder law attorneys in Georgia; Roger Tutterow, professor of Economics at Mercer University; and John Hunt, president and founder of the New Home Buyer which creates new home reports for the Atlanta area.

Ruthann stressed several important documents and plans to have before retirement so you can rest easy:

  • Know how you will pay for long-term health care
  • Have a Durable Advance Directive for Health Care
  • Have a Durable Financial Power of Attorney
  • Prepare a Last Will and Testament

There was also discussion about the current housing market. Some positive signs discussed included the bottom-out of home prices, home value appreciation (the first rise since 2006) and recovery of re-sales.

Park Springs hosted the event to better inform members of the community about preparing for retirement and life after retirement. Park Springs is a beautiful continuing care retirement facility in Stone Mountain, Ga. Several living options to choose from including private homes, condos and assisted living. A 50,000 square foot clubhouse provides an enormous fitness center as well as dining options and space to meet with friends.
