The Park Springs Community is known for having an active adult program like no other. From art classes to wii bowling leagues, this premier continuing care retirement community has it all. Recently many Park Springs Members have been missing from their usual activities. Why? They are all participating in Marvin Himmel’s annual community performance.
The former child actor and Broadway showman has lived in the Park Springs community for the past five years. For the past three Himmel has directed the annual holiday show. The performance has proven so popular that four shows were added to the schedule this year to accommodate all of the Park Springs Members who were unable to attend last year.
For the past two months, the Park Springs cast and crew has been hard at work putting together this year’s performance: It’s a Lovely Way to Spend an Evening.” The first segment of the performance will include a tribute to female icons including Judy Garland, Ethel Merman and Carol Channing. The second segment will shift focus to Broadway tunes including five songs from Guys and Dolls. Musical numbers from The Music Man, West Side Story, The Phantom of the Opera, Chorus Line and Sweet Charity will all be performed as well.
The closed event will be performed for Park Springs Members December 9 through December 12. Tickets were sold out 18 hours after sales began, proving that this year’s performance should be just as big of a hit as last years.
