Joan and Rex Ireland moved from California to The Orchards of East Cherokee in Woodstock to be closer to their daughter, but they got much more than just a new home.
Choosing The Orchards of East Cherokee, an active adult and maintenance free community built by The Orchards Group, was easy for the couple because they liked the peaceful country like setting, central location and the community. It was the perfect location for the couple to settle in to their new life in Metro Atlanta. The community is close to all of the activities that the rejuvenated downtown Woodstock, Roswell and Alpharetta have to offer. Plus, it is convenient to several golf courses, which appealed to Rex.
The couple’s new home is two stories with the owner’s suite on the main level. “We love the spaciousness and natural light it provides,” explained Joan. “It is a larger home than we anticipated owning here in Atlanta, but we love being able to spread out and enjoy our new formal living and dining rooms.”
Joan and Rex also enjoy using the communities’ amenities and participating in the communities’ events such as meet and greet parties and the T.G.I. Fridays. Joan has even formed her own activity, a craft group. The group meets at the clubhouse once a month for now, but they are looking into meeting twice a month as participation grows. The craft group allows participants to bring a project they are working on such as crocheting, knitting, cross-stitching, painting, quilting and more. If participants want, Joan will also give them a knitting lesson.
Living in the country has taken some getting used to, such as the sounds of cows waking them up in the morning, but they are settling into their new community nicely. Overall, they are very happy in their new east Cherokee home and expect to live there for many years to come.
