A fitness feat unfolded in Cresswind communities across the Southeast as they participated in the premier Cresswind STEPtember Challenge, an initiative by Kolter Homes. This friendly rivalry aimed at distinguishing the community with the most average miles walked per member.
In a month, about 63,214 miles were covered, translating to an impressive 126,428,000 steps, thanks to the active participation of 678 residents. Cresswind Charleston stood out with an average of 156 miles per individual, securing the Cresswind STEPtember Challenge trophy for their clubhouse. They also won a $3,500 grant from Kolter Homes for a communal event of their choice.
Other communities showed significant commitment: Cresswind Charlotte with 107.7 miles, Lake Lanier at 107.5, Palm Beach with 101, Georgia at Twin Lakes at 100, Wesley Chapel at 94, and Lakewood Ranch with 78 miles on average.
The STEPtember initiative, free and entertaining, not only championed health but also bolstered community bonding, aligning with the Cresswind motto: Set Yourself F.R.E.E. The month witnessed residents and lifestyle directors organizing group strolls and engaging walking conversations.
Mark LaClaire, Kolter Homes’ Lifestyle Director, shared his delight, noting the enhanced social connections among residents. Many continue to walk in groups even post-challenge.
Kolter Homes teamed up with EGYM, a fitness tech pioneer, to facilitate mile and step tracking via the “CressFIT” app. This platform also helps residents log workouts and interact with health-focused peers.
Cresswind Charleston’s Diana Linden said, “It was a fantastic initiative. We loved it; it got us moving!”
