Marv Adams and Cindy Benzine said their “I do’s” Sunday, at the clubhouse in the community of Brookhaven of East Cobb, where the couple recently purchased a new home. The two had been neighbors in a gated Marietta community for seven years, and had began the courting process after Adams’ wife of 51 years passed in June 2009.

“I called him 911 Marv for many years,” recalled Cindy. “Whenever I needed something done I would knock on his door.”

However, a knock on her door from Marv changed it all.

“I asked her to go out to dinner…not as a date but as friends…we were just going to break bread,” said Marv.

“It quickly turned into a date,” said Cindy laughing.

Marv was glad that it did however, and after seven months of dating,  Marv and Cindy decided to put both of their homes up for sale. Both knew it could take up to a year for their homes to sell, but after only four days, someone purchased Cindy’s home, and a few days later someone else purchased Marv’s.

Now engaged, and their homes sold, the two knew it was time to find a place to call home together. Cindy recalled visiting Brookhaven of East Cobb, when looking for a new wood floor years before, when the community first opened.

“When we saw the model for the first time together we liked it instantly,” said Marv. “I really appreciated the flow of the home and the way it was laid out. We fell in love with it and thought it would be a nice place to call home.”

Not long after this initial visit, Marv and Cindy decided to purchase a three-bedroom home in the community. In late September they were also accommodated by representatives for the builder, Jim Chapman Communities, to be sure that they would have a personalized home to meet their every need.

“It was extremely important that they worked with us,” said Marv. “They are truly one of the finest builders I have ever worked with and I have built five homes. We as the customer always came first and foremost.”

Finally, two days after Thanksgiving, the couple were able to welcome their friends and family to their wedding ceremony; the icing on the cake to an eventful year.

“This has been an amazing year and we have a lot to be thankful for,” said Marv.
